Welcome to the Silent Thunder Memorial for Freedom website. We are a small number of patriotic Americans who wish to honor the American servicemen and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom in Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. We are non-political and non-denominational. We are veterans and non-veterans. We are united by a common desire to honor these fallen heroes by building a living memorial to them.
We have received our Federal tax ID number, have submitted our paperwork to the State of Virginia as a nonprofit, charitable organization, and will complete the application process for permanent, non-profit status as soon as possible. Our best estimates are that we will need approximately $3,000,000 to do everything necessary to design the memorial, find a suitable site, and construct the memorial. We will keep you informed as to our progress on all fronts on our website.
The Silent Thunder Memorial for Freedom will include the name, date of birth, date of death, hometown and state, military branch and rank, and place where each service member served. Above each inscription will be a ceramic photo of each hero.
Our belief is that this memorial will be an appropriate way to not only recognize and honor the sacrifice and loyalty of each fallen hero, but will also function as a reminder to those of us who enjoy freedom that we owe a great debt of gratitude to the many who answered our country’s call to serve.
While we are small in number at present, we urge you to join the Silent Thunder Memorial Association. There is no cost or obligation. Obviously, in the future we will need volunteer support and generous donations. We promise that any donations will be directed solely toward accomplishing our goal.
